The first place to ignite the theme in your baby boy nursery will be to choose the right kind of wallpapering or paints to compliment the theme. Paint is the inexpensive way to do it and if you choose to go this way you will want to concentrate on the traditional fire engine red. It will bring a striking contrast to the white, black and yellow colors of the profession attributes. Also, don't forget the shades of blue representing the gushing water and the clear sky.
Wallpaper marked with fire engines can be added to the borders of the room or better yet, use Fireman wallpaper borders to separate the top from the bottom half of the walls around the room. Consider using blue or the black and white combination of the famous Dalmatian dog or simply paint the walls very light yellow - a perfect canvas to adorn with hand painted Fireman symbols.

After the walls are taken care of, craft paints can be used to touch things up with more fire engines and symbols of the trade - fire hydrants, iconic helmets, coiled fire hoses, heavy boots, yellow slickers, firemen in action putting out fires, and of course the little Dalmatian dogs. Aside from craft paints for the do-it-yourselfer, peel and stick decals can work as a suitable alternative.
For decorations in the room stuffed Dalmatian dogs work nicely as do black and white spotted bed sheets as well as Fireman design baby quilts, blankets or entire baby bedding sets. A yellow ladder can be hung from a wall and the famous fireman's uniform, complete with rubber boots, chief's hat and jacket, can be displayed around the nursery room. Focus on after-Halloween sales to get little firemen costumes to use in your decorating. You might even visit stores specializing in birthday party themes to find inexpensive decor.
Once your newborn fireman gets 'promoted' to a full-fledged walking and talking member of the fire brigade consider another great idea. Get a cheap set of walkie-talkies with which you can call your child down to "rescue" dinner or some other activity. You can even go so far as to teach your young one how to talk on the walkie-talkies the way real firemen do, using phrases like "Copy that" to add a little fun and realism to the idea.
Fill the rest of the room with toys and books that are firefighter related. Posters of fire engines can be bought cheaply to fill out empty spaces along the walls. Finally, it would be a memorable experience to take your little child to a real fire station to have a picture taken with the real heroes of the community and placing that picture in a prominent place in your "hot" newly designed baby boy nursery.
