The Story of Joshua and Caleb

The story of Joshua and Caleb is one of the most powerful and dramatic stories in the entire Bible. There are major lessons in this story for all Christians to grab hold of!

Child Craft Crib

Most Christians have heard of the story of Moses, but many Christians are not aware of the story involving these two. They are an extension off the story of Moses. They are the climax to the story of Moses, as I will show you below. I'll first give you a brief synopsis of their story and then give you what needs to be learned from their story and how it personally applies to the situation that you are now facing.

Brief Synopsis Of Joshua and Caleb

God sends Moses into the land of Egypt to rescue and pull His people out of slavery from the Egyptians. He parts the Red Sea so they have a way to escape from the Egyptians. He throws 10 whopper plaques at the Pharaoh in order to get him to release His people from their bondage. God the Father performs one of the most powerful supernatural displays of signs and wonders that the world has ever seen to get His people pulled out of Egypt.

Moses tells God's people that He will give them what He calls the "Promised Land." It is a land flowing with milk and honey. He will settle His people down in this land and this is where He will break the Israelites off into 12 different tribes.

However, there is one little catch to this story. Before they are allowed to enter into this Promised Land, they must first pass a test. God allows them to stay in the "wilderness" for 40 years. He gives them all the basics as far as food and water in order to survive in the wilderness for the 40 years.

God purposely tested His people to see if they would "hold fast" to Him while in the wilderness for the 40 years. And time after time, they continued to screw up. At one time, God got so mad at their rebellious attitude, they He literally wanted to kill them. But Moses got into the gap for his people, pleaded his case to God as to why He should not kill His people, and the Bible said God relented and changed His mind - just because Moses stood in the gap and effectively pleaded his case before God.

However, just after a little over 2 years into this 40 year journey is where they finally blew it big time for the last time with God the Father. The Israelites sent in some spies into the Promised Land to check out who the enemy was and to develop battle strategies to defeat the enemies. God was going to allow them to go into the Promised Land, but they first had to defeat and drive out the enemies in order to conquer and possess the land.

When the spies came back, they came back with a "bad report." They said the enemies were "giants" and their kingdoms were too well fortified and they wouldn't be able to defeat them. Now mind you, God had just got done pulling them out of Egypt with one of the greatest displays of His supernatural power the world has ever seen with Him throwing 10 whopper plaques against the Egyptians and then parting the Red Sea to give them safe passage into the wilderness.

When God saw their negative attitudes and their lack of faith and belief in His power, He literally threw up His hands and basically said that's it, you're done. At that point, He told them that all the men 20 years and older would not enter into the Promised Land due to their lack of faith and belief in Him. He said that they would all wander in the desert for the next 40 years until they all literally died out in the desert. God says that their carcasses would fall in this wilderness and that their sons would be shepherds bearing the brunt of their infidelity towards God. The spies that went into to spy out the land did so for 40 days. As a result of this bad report - God pronounces judgment that they should wander in the wilderness for 40 years to match up with the 40 days that they had spied out the land for.

Now this is where Joshua and Caleb come in. God then tells Joshua and Caleb that they and the younger generation under 20 years of age would be the ones to go into the Promised Land because they had "wholeheartedly followed God." They had full faith and belief in God that He could defeat all their enemies once they went into the Promised Land to conquer and possess it.

Joshua was the leader that led them in. Moses himself was not allowed to go in and he died and was buried out in the wilderness. Joshua then took Moses' position as leader of the Israelites. He then goes into the Promised Land with his strong faith in God and then proceeds to literally wipe their enemies off the face of the earth and conquer and possess the land that God had promised their forefathers.

Lessons To be Learned From Joshua and Caleb

1.  I believe the "Promised Land" for today's Christian refers to God's call on that person's life. For the Christian that will fully surrender his entire life over to God the Father - I believe God will place a specific call or calls on that person's life. However, it may take many years before God releases that person into what his true calling is for God. Sometimes it takes years of preparation to get ready for that call.

But once that call comes in and you are getting ready to cross over into your "Promised Land," a lot of Christians get cold feet at the last minute and walk out of their call. They start to get too focused on all the negative possibilities that they will encounter if they take the call. Fear sets in and they "bail out of the boat."

This is why the above story is so powerful. The Israelites lost their one and only chance to go into this Promised Land due to one main reason - fear and a lack of true faith and belief in the power of God too see them through. They were too scared of the "giants" they saw in the land that they were supposed to possess and they did not have enough faith in God to conquer and defeat these giants. As a result, they lost out on the biggest blessing of their entire life.

After Joshua fully succeeded in his mission, he makes the comment shortly before he dies, that God had not failed him in any of the promises that He made to him in that He would give him every ounce of land that he would step foot on. He told Joshua that his enemies would be taken out and that he would be given total victory as long as he stayed with God's instructions. Joshua saw his call completely through and when he died, he died a man with his call and mission from God completely fulfilled.

His story is how God wants all of His people to live!! The 2 keys to Joshua's success was his strong faith in God and the fact that he had always "wholeheartedly followed God." I always tell everyone to stay with their leadings from the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will "guide us into all truth and teach us all things." He is our guide and our teacher. If God puts a call on your life, but you don't follow His specific instructions and leadings on how to get there, you will never succeed.

Joshua's story is one of the most dramatic stories in the Bible about someone who "did it right in God." His story is a perfect example for all Christians on how to properly follow God and the call that He can place on your life.
2.  Susie, this story really applies to where you are at right now with God. You may be getting ready to have your door opened up to enter into your Promised Land - into God's true call on your life. However, you are well aware of the "giants" and "strongholds" you will be coming against if this door opens up for you.
Susie, remember the above story on Joshua. He saw the same "giants" and "strongholds" you are seeing. He saw all this before going in. God allowed him to see exactly what he was going into before he actually went into it. And God is showing you the same thing.

You have two choices. You can either let fear and panic set in just like the Israelites did and lose your chance to enter into your "Promised Land," or you can have the same strong faith and belief in God that Joshua had - and go in their with a "kick butt attitude" that you will be victorious and that you will accomplish everything that God wants you to accomplish.

I'll leave you with one last thought. Joshua took his strong faith and belief in God, entered the Promised Land and achieved
total victory in God. The Bible says God is "no respecter of persons." What He will do for one, He will do for another.

If God is calling you to go through this door, rest assured that you will have the full power of God operating through you to achieve total victory just like Joshua did!

As a final testament to the this man's story, God saw fit to name one of the books of the Bible after him - "The Book of Joshua." I think that was a very fitting ending to what this man accomplished "in God" while down here on earth. The Bible said Joshua lived to be 110 years old.

How to Start an Import Business

Have you ever pictured yourself traveling around the world buying merchandise to resell at home? Have you found yourself in a foreign country casting about for a scheme to finance future trips? Do you wonder if it might be a good idea to augment your existing business with imported merchandise? Have you considered moving part or all of your production overseas to save on labor costs? If any of these scenarios sound familiar you can use this article to explore and refine your ideas. Here are 10 questions to guide you through the process and launch you on your journey into the global marketplace.

Child Craft Crib

Do you have experience overseas?

Child Craft Crib

If you do, is it travel or work experience? Working in a foreign country is very different from being a tourist. Some of the qualities that make a place great to visit can make it an extremely frustrating place to work. For instance, Bali is a fantastic island to visit. The people are friendly and the island is beautiful. Tourists particularly enjoy the elaborate temple ceremonies and processions. For a businessperson the Balinese culture that many visitors find so charming is also a challenge. People spend a much larger percent of their time on ritual activities, leaving less time for production. Time is not enshrined as a sacred linear concept as it is in the United States. Estimates of when an order will be complete are gauged to please the customer and often have little or no relationship to the actual amount of time needed to complete it. Even the wonderful creative impulse that permeates the culture can prove daunting. For instance, a craft person might not think twice about adding purple polka dots to your order if he thought it would look better.

How much experience do you have with the specific country you are intending to import from?

Are you familiar with the culture and language? Such familiarity goes a long way toward minimizing expensive misunderstandings. If you don't have a lot of experience you should learn as much as you can and consider hiring a really good translator who can also give you pointers in local etiquette. Knowledge of local customs can help you establish a good relationship with your suppliers. For instance, in some cultures loud complaints about prices are a natural part of the deal making process, while in other cultures people go to great lengths to avoid confrontation. In those countries, Americans often appear aggressive and rude if they don't tone down their negotiating style.

Even if you have good language skills it can be helpful to engage the aid of someone who is truly bilingual. On a recent buying trip to Mexico I ordered a large quantity of earrings. My Spanish is limited but I brought along one of my employees who is fluent in Spanish. Her help was critical in explaining the details of the modifications I wanted to make to existing samples. Nevertheless, when the order was delivered there were still several errors that resulted from language-based misunderstandings.

How much business experience do you have?

A solid grounding in basic business principles will help you evaluate opportunities as they arise. It is important to have a realistic view of how potential revenues balance out against all of the costs involved in creating and sustaining a new venture. Many people seriously underestimate costs. When you price your product you need to consider not only the price you paid for each unit but all of the overhead expenses like shipping, duties, travel, phone calls, faxes, foreign exchange fluctuations, rent and personnel. It is very wise to do a full budget before you spend a cent. Calculate how many items you would need to sell, at what price, just to recoup your initial investment. Include a 10% buffer for unanticipated expenses and double check to be sure the price you intend to charge for your product is competitive.

Do you like to buy and sell?

Many people like to shop but don't like to sell. Some find bargaining, an inevitable part of doing business in the developing world, unpleasant, while others relish the challenge. It takes a great deal of skill and a certain amount of innate talent to negotiate a favorable deal without insulting the vendor. Be honest with yourself about these issues. It is one thing to be caught up in a surge of enthusiasm for local handicrafts or a desire to return regularly to a favorite locale. It is quite another thing to return home with huge quantities of products that need to be sold. Many people find it stressful to make cold calls, the inevitable process of contacting potential new clients. For others, keeping track of expenses and setting prices are too much of a burden. Be honest about your goals as well. It is much less difficult to buy and sell a few things to friends and relatives in order to subsidize future trips than it is to set up a viable business with the potential to support a family.

Do you have specific products in mind?

Do you know the market for these products? Do you have a good feel for the price range and quality level that potential clients are looking for? Do the legwork involved in answering these questions. To avoid expensive mistakes, talk with potential clients before you invest in large quantities of stock. If possible, bring samples with you to discuss. When I first started importing from Indonesia I sold brightly colored hand painted and carved fish mobiles. They were very popular with my friends as accessories in children's rooms, especially over cribs. I thought I had a sure market in toy stores but when I did the research I discovered otherwise. Toy stores were very reluctant to sell products that did not have official child-safe stamps of approval. The organizations that tested products and provided these seals of approval charged steep fees that only large companies could afford to pay. I also encountered tough questions that I had not thought to ask. For instance, is the paint toxic? Could the nylon thread used to tie the fish together get wrapped around a child's neck?

What production issues can you anticipate?

Is your product a natural resource or something that needs to be manufactured? How automated is the manufacturing system? What quality control standards are in place? Products with a great deal of hand labor involved will have more variation that machine made products. In either case, overseas quality standards are often much more flexible than the American consumer will tolerate. Don't make any assumptions about quality, honesty or delivery dates until you have established a relationship with your supplier. Some countries are notorious for providing great samples and then delivering shoddy goods or downright frauds. Other mistakes may be honest but just as disastrous. By placing small initial orders, you can minimize the damage and slowly develop a rapport with your suppliers. It is also crucial to have a screening mechanism in place. You should quality check all shipments before you pay. Since most overseas vendors require cash up front before shipping, this will entail additional trips and the associated expenses. In some cases it is possible to hire independent commercial agents to quality check for you but that option does introduce added risk.

How will you handle payments?

In some countries it is very simple to arrange letters of credit or wire funds from the United States directly to your supplier. With very small companies, or undeveloped countries, arranging payment can be more complicated. There are some situations where you might need to carry traveler's checks with you and others where only cash will do. Remember that if you leave the United States with over ,000 in cash or travelers checks you must declare it with customs when you depart. Most countries also ask you to declare how much cash you are carrying when you enter the country. Failure to declare is against the law. On the other hand, declaring large amounts of cash can make you the target of unscrupulous officials trolling for bribes or "gifts". It is crucial to research your destination ahead of time so that you can avoid awkward situations.

How stable is the country you plan to do business in?

If you are planning to expend time and money building up the market for you product it is wise to consider the stability of the country and the region before committing your resources. This includes fiscal stability as well as political stability. Sharp variations in the exchange rate can wreck havoc with importers. If the local currency gets too strong, your dollars will buy less product, pushing up the prices you will have to charge your customers. It is not uncommon for whole markets to dry up in this manner. On the other hand, if the currency drops, your product, with its new low prices, may suddenly become extremely attractive to buyers. While this situation seems like a dream come true it isn't always so simple. When the Asian economic crisis hit, the prices for Balinese handicrafts fell by almost 80% overnight for people with dollars to spend. Existing products were snapped up but when the vendors went to replace them they found the price for crucial imported materials and supplies had skyrocketed. Not only that but distributors were hoarding and many items were not available for any price. In addition, vital elements of the infrastructure like shipping and banking collapsed, making it almost impossible to do business for several months.

Are you familiar with import/export regulations?

Don't forget that the United States has a whole range of regulations concerning imports. Depending upon the product and the country of origin you may be subject to duties. Some items, like clothing, have quotas, which impose additional costs and restrictions. Strict labeling requirements also apply to imported goods. Other merchandise might require licenses or permits. It is the importer's responsibility to make sure that the products she imports meet all of the admissibility requirements and that the proper permits are obtained before the goods arrive in the United States. A professional customs broker can help you avoid getting caught in this labyrinth of rules and regulations.

Regardless of whether you send your merchandise through the international mail system or ship it though a commercial shipping company, all goods entering the United States must be cleared by U.S. Customs. The process of presenting documents for clearing goods through customs is called an "entry." For the most part, shipments valued under ,000 can be cleared with an informal entry. In an informal entry the Customs inspector determines the classification of the goods and completes the necessary forms. Shipments with higher values require a formal entry.

If the merchandise is sent through the mail, you or the merchant must attach an international customs declaration with a complete and accurate description of the packages contents and value. If the package is worth less than ,000 (and does not contain textiles or other restricted goods), a mail entry is prepared by a Customs officer and then the package is returned to the Postal Service for delivery. A handling fee and any applicable duties are collected by the postal agent at the time of delivery. If the parcel requires a formal entry, you will receive a notice to file the necessary paperwork at the nearest Customs office. If merchandise is sent through a commercial shipping company, the shipping company, not Customs, is responsible for notifying you of the package's arrival at Customs. At this point, either you or your customs broker must file the appropriate entry.

The following documents are necessary when filing a formal entry:

1. A bill of lading, airway bill or carrier's certificate.

2. A commercial invoice which shows the value, quantity and description of the merchandise.

3. Entry manifest (Customs form 7533) or Entry/Immediate Delivery (Customs Form 3461).

4. Packing lists, if appropriate, and other documents to determine whether the merchandise may be admitted.

The trickiest part of a formal entry is determining the correct tariff classification for the product in question. Goods are categorized according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. The duty rate is tied to the classification number and will also vary by country. U.S. Customs advises in its literature that, "Classification is more than simply looking an item up in the index. It is a very complicated process requiring the application of the General Rules of Interpretation; the section, chapter and subheading notes; the Explanatory notes." The importer is responsible for properly classifying his merchandise before entry. Since the rules are Byzantine and open to interpretation, it is wise to use a professional customs broker familiar with the process. Even so, two different Customs inspectors might have different opinions about the proper classification of a given item. If you plan to repeatedly import the same product, you should request, in writing, a binding classification ruling from the National Commodity Specialist Division of U.S. Customs.

Shipments of textiles are complicated by quota restrictions. In effect, each individual garment requires a visa. Since only a limited number of visas are issued each year, they may or may not be available when you need them. The cost will fluctuate by country and season, making it difficult to budget in advance. Other restricted and prohibited goods include medications and medical devices, goods that violate trademark or copyright protections, alcoholic beverages, certain foodstuffs, certain animals and animal products, narcotics and certain weapons.

U.S. customs publishes two useful pamphlets: International Mail Imports and U.S. Import Requirements. These are available through your local port or on the U.S. Customs web site.

Most countries restrict or even forbid the export of certain products. These items might include endangered species or antiques that are considered natural treasures. Some of the contraband items are obvious but there are many restricted products you might not anticipate. Check with local authorities before purchasing large quantities of any product for export.

If you don't have much experience importing, you might want to choose larger vendors with exporting experience. Such vendors will be more likely to understand American expectations. They can also help you navigate local regulations, shipping and banking issues. These companies will charge a premium, but in the long run, they could save you money.

What is your risk profile?

Last but not least, examine your risk profile. Some people thrive on risk while others are completely risk averse. Importing can be very profitable but it is also extremely risky. There are an infinite number of things that can and will go wrong as you navigate the geographical and cultural divides of our planet. Personally, I find the challenge invigorating, but it can also generate a great deal of stress. There is no way to plan for every contingency or predict every disaster. Stable currencies collapse unexpectedly, as do governments. Markets can prove erratic as well. Sometimes a business can withstand these events and other times you have to walk away from years of work and investment.

As an importer, you will also be served well by the ability to improvise under difficult conditions. To survive, you must be willing to change course rapidly to adapt to the conditions of an unfolding crisis. Creative problem solving can mean the difference between success and failure.

Brief Parables Concerning Life, Marriage, Manhood, Womanhood, and Christ and the Church

THE NATURAL HUSBANDMAN

Child Craft Crib

A man comes of age, having been groomed by both natural instincts and the fellowship of aged and proven husbandmen, and having by desire sought and inter-meddled with wisdom considers the fields before him how he might obtain such to apply himself to the art, craft, and the life long intercourse that has been played out between the soil of the field, and husbandmen for generations, even from the beginning of creation.

Child Craft Crib

He observes the fields in their seasons. He notes the wonderful curves of the rolling hills. He sees the the lush green of the grass as it blows in the wind, noting how this grass could be used beyond its beauty to feed the living creators, passing its strength to them. He notes the areas where the soil appears most fertile producing the greenest, tallest, and richest foliage and realizes that when put under the plow this same soil will after being sown with the seed of his choice produce an abundant crop. For it receives the warmth of the sun and the dew of the rain, and having richness within itself will with time, under the skill of his care, produce 30, 60 and 100 fold from the husbandman's seed. A wise husbandman loves the field (fields) he has chosen for himself. For they represent the very calling and purpose of this life before his own Master. They are surely the very chiefest of all his possessions, offering to him exceeding potential of reward. As the husbandman possesses the fields, even so he is possessed by his own Owner/Master.

THE HEAVENLY HUSBANDMAN

He notes how very many of the fields of men's hearts have been wrongly affected by the forces of the world around them. Whose soil is dried up, (lacking the life flow of the presence of the Lord which is granted to all who live in faith, praise, and thanksgiving) or whose soil the wind has blown away, leaving only rocks. (stones of bitterness, anger, resentments, jealousies, strivings, and every sort of malice) Other places possessing ponds which are filled with mud, can boast of cat tails and swamp grass, but are worthless to produce the crop that the husbandman desires to produce. (these are soils rich in the pleasures and promotions of this age but not rich in producing the fruits of Christ's kingdom)

THE YOUNG MAN SEEKING TO BE A HUSBAND-MAN

Many fields are owned and possessed by other husbandmen who have laid claim to them at a time prior. These fields the young husbandman realizes he has no right to, and although a glance many signal to him that there is amusement and beauty in themselves, yet he dismisses them quickly for they are only a tease. He knows that they can never be his, for they belong to another, and he would never consider to steal what is his neighbor's.

A HUSBANDMAN WHO CONSIDERS

The husbandman looks around at the children of men and notes that there is a very wide spectrum of thought and behavior among fellow husbandmen. Some being convinced that they have right to only one field, while others realizing that the husbandman-ship of more than one field can grant opportunity for the magnified blessing and fruit which the varied fields can produce-of coarse, pending on the seed sown into them, and the skillful care of the husbandman. Still other husbandman being lazy, ignorant, and evil, sow the most corrupt seed into the fields of their possession and realize crops of the most haggard and despised fruits; Many there are like this. Many other husbandman do not even possess the field they have intercourse with. Having no commitment to these fields, they sow into them a mixture of both good and evil seed, then these husbandman abandon them leaving them, caring not for the field, or the potential fruit that the field can produce. Leaving the field victim to every force of nature and every sort of thorn and weed. However some husbandmen possessing both heart and understanding, by means of patience and deep devotion of heart sow into the field (fields) of their possession the highest quality seed, and tenderly and diligently cultivate and nurture the soil of the fields. Crops are produced from these fields, each according to the seed sown, fruits delightful to the eye, and nourishing to the health; The most beautiful, rich, and enduring fruits.

VIRGIN DAUGHTERS OF THE LAND

You, virgin daughters of the land, are the fields which the husbandmen consider for ownership. A husbandman having dealt wisely and uprightly before both God and men will make a bid to purchase you unto himself. Having paid the price to release you from any claim that any other might have on you so that he alone, under God, might be your owner/master, to the end that he alone, under God can sow into your heart, and into the your body the seed that is his own. To the end that he might have a crop of the fruits of godly marriage, wise and pleasant. A husbandman with tenderness and constant devotion does not fail to continually seek to rid his field/fields of weeds and thorns that threaten to choke the true fruits that are meant by the Almighty to grow from the soil of their lives. Yes, having understood the calling and wisdom of the Mighty One he has purchased, and brought into the care of his hands more than one field, although other husbandman persecute and mock him for this, saying that he has no right to possess more than one field. Yet, he has not neglected any field, but sought continually for the perfection of appearance and fruitfulness of each field in its own time.

THE OBJECT OF the HUSBANDMAN'S LOVE: THE FIELD

You, virgin daughters, since you are the fields, will you, unto God's glory surrender the soil of both your heart and body to bring forth the best and richest fruit unto the husbandman in which you are to belong? Will you seek to allow the warmth of the sun ( all those living characteristics of the Son of God that come to your through your husband) to germinate the seed sown into you? Will you take the winds that blow over you and allow them to only caress the plantings that grow forth from yourself, or will you allow the winds of adversity to by unbelief and rebellion destroy the pleasant crop that is meant to come forth from your life? Will you allow the winds of adversity to blow away the richness of your soil so that only rocks remain, which can never receive the seed sown from the husbandman and germinate, and bring forth fruit? Will you allow the rains of this life to erode away the richest soil and deposit it into a mud-hole where only frogs and cat-tails can live, but can not be plowed and brought under any useful purpose by neither your heavenly or nature husband?

THE HUSBANDMAN OF US ALL

Christ our Lord. Who is God the Almighty wrapped in human flesh, is the husbandman of His own. For He is both the husband and father of all spirits made perfect. No man can be the husband of the spirit of any woman. A husband can only possess, cultivate, and cherish the soul and body of a wife. The Mighty One in His wisdom having created humanity of male and female, allows and promotes that the very wisdom and purpose that He desires accomplished in the realm of the spirit will have its equal, its representation, in the natural...thus He created in natural man the art, craft, and desire that the husbandman and the field are apart of. Will we play our parts wisely? Will we unto God's glory fulfill the testimony that wise and godly husbands and wives are called to fulfill? Or will we be shown to be ignorant and rebellious in relationship to the proper testimony that our lives are called to bring forth in this present natural life?

Each man must consider very carefully. For this is the calling that the Lord has called the married man and woman to flesh out.

A Watchman

Fireman Design For A Baby Room - An Igniting Nursery Theme

The first place to ignite the theme in your baby boy nursery will be to choose the right kind of wallpapering or paints to compliment the theme. Paint is the inexpensive way to do it and if you choose to go this way you will want to concentrate on the traditional fire engine red. It will bring a striking contrast to the white, black and yellow colors of the profession attributes. Also, don't forget the shades of blue representing the gushing water and the clear sky.

Child Craft Crib

Wallpaper marked with fire engines can be added to the borders of the room or better yet, use Fireman wallpaper borders to separate the top from the bottom half of the walls around the room. Consider using blue or the black and white combination of the famous Dalmatian dog or simply paint the walls very light yellow - a perfect canvas to adorn with hand painted Fireman symbols.

Child Craft Crib

After the walls are taken care of, craft paints can be used to touch things up with more fire engines and symbols of the trade - fire hydrants, iconic helmets, coiled fire hoses, heavy boots, yellow slickers, firemen in action putting out fires, and of course the little Dalmatian dogs. Aside from craft paints for the do-it-yourselfer, peel and stick decals can work as a suitable alternative.

For decorations in the room stuffed Dalmatian dogs work nicely as do black and white spotted bed sheets as well as Fireman design baby quilts, blankets or entire baby bedding sets. A yellow ladder can be hung from a wall and the famous fireman's uniform, complete with rubber boots, chief's hat and jacket, can be displayed around the nursery room. Focus on after-Halloween sales to get little firemen costumes to use in your decorating. You might even visit stores specializing in birthday party themes to find inexpensive decor.

Once your newborn fireman gets 'promoted' to a full-fledged walking and talking member of the fire brigade consider another great idea. Get a cheap set of walkie-talkies with which you can call your child down to "rescue" dinner or some other activity. You can even go so far as to teach your young one how to talk on the walkie-talkies the way real firemen do, using phrases like "Copy that" to add a little fun and realism to the idea.

Fill the rest of the room with toys and books that are firefighter related. Posters of fire engines can be bought cheaply to fill out empty spaces along the walls. Finally, it would be a memorable experience to take your little child to a real fire station to have a picture taken with the real heroes of the community and placing that picture in a prominent place in your "hot" newly designed baby boy nursery.

Baby Cribs - Round Or Square

Baby cribs have evolved much the same as everything else with the new technology we have today. They are no longer just rectangular with one drop down side for ease of access. Below are some explanations of the differences in the new styles of cribs available today.

Child Craft Crib

First lets discuss the traditional style baby crib. Traditionally these cribs have a stationary mattress and a drop down side for ease of access, however the newer models are changing to all sides stationary and with an adjustable mattress height. This helps to eliminate the possibility of latch malfunctions that can cause severe harm or even death to your baby. The new baby crib models have now begun to convert to toddler beds for longer use. These cribs are approximately 56in W x 32in D x 42in H. Different brands and styles will vary slightly in size and many brands have furniture to match to complete your nursery.

Child Craft Crib

A more modern crib available is the lifetime baby crib. These cribs usually have an adjustable mattress height and stationary sides so as your child grows the mattress is dropped and the risk is reduced that they will climb out and fall. Once the stage begins that your child is ready to start sleeping in a bed the crib converts to a toddler bed and then on to a full size bed with the addition of bed rails, this is where the term lifetime comes from. The toddler bed guard rails are used to prevent your little one from falling out as he/she adjusts to sleeping in a bed instead of a crib. Then as your child grows and is ready for a bed, the toddler bed can again be converted to a full sized bed. This type of baby crib usually comes with a nice selection of furniture to match or coordinate with the crib style. These baby cribs are approximately 44in H x 58in W x 30in D but will vary according to brand and style.

Now also available is the new round baby crib. These cribs come in a variety of styles and configurations. There is a heart-shaped crib available that comes in single or twin. Also if you are lucky enough to have triplets or even more, one model is designed to accommodate them all by connecting multiple cribs together. They are available in wood, several types of metal and a variety of colors. They also have multiple dome configurations to customize them to your taste. These round cribs are approximately 45 in diameter giving the baby 11 square feet of space. There is also a large variety of bedding to make your new round baby crib as fancy and elegant as you want the nursery to be.
